Maine bans cell phone usage for drivers under 18 and for those with intermediate licenses. There is also legislation coming into effect which will ban “distracted driving,” and place fines upon those who cause accidents caused by distracted driving.
This bill makes driving while distracted a moving violation. It prohibits engaging in an activity that impairs the driver’s ability to drive. It also allows the Department of Transportation to adopt rules.
